Courtesy of first cousin once removed Sara Fitzgerald (probably easier just to say Great Aunt Nellie’s daughter):
Some great pics of great grandparents Charles Arthur Johnson and Viola Mae (Palmer) Johnson at different times in their lives. Would love to hear more about when and where these pics were taken, and the stories behind them.
There’s one of a young Viola standing in front of Bossart Restaurant, which advertises Fresh Oysters on the chalkboard to her left and in a sign tacked to the outside. And another of her wearing quite a hat, in which I think she looks quite a lot like Grandma Erma Foutz.
There’s one of a young Charles standing in back of a train car with a sign advertising New Philadelphia Special. (But then, what’s special about New Philadelphia? Little joke there, from the Dover side.) Don’t know if this train is actually running, though, since it seems blocked in on its sides.
Sara also shared a pic from about 1950 of her family and their Foutz cousins (which, at that point, only included uncles Don and Bob).
Well, my advice is to just visit Geni.com and see for yourself. But I’ve included a few below. Thanks again, Sara!
