Vance Cleveland Foutz | 1887-1968
This blog series explores the lives of Foutz ancestors as revealed in their obituaries. Much of this information was gathered during a March 2011 research trip to Tuscarawas and Harrison counties in Ohio.
From the Times-Reporter (Dover/New Philadelphia), Monday, Aug. 5, 1968:
What else was going on in the world on Aug. 4, 1968? A year of political unrest saw Martin Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy assassinated. The Republican National Convention, which would begin the day after Vance died, would nominate Richard M. Nixon for president. The month before Vance’s death saw the founding of eventual software giant Intel, the premiere of soap opera “One Life to Live”, and the ascendancy of Saddam Hussein to the vice chairmanship of Iraq’s Revolutionary Council, following a coup d’etat.
